Ooohhhhh, you know I had to post about this.

Sometimes the GOP provides you with some perfect example of how their Pro-life BS is actually just a war on women. Enter Todd Akin and the infamous sentence he spoke earlier this week:

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”
Ladies, did you know that we have an anti-rape system somewhere up there. My gyno failed to inform me. Bitch.

Do I even have to point out all that is wrong here? Legitimate rape? So that means if you got pregnant from a rape then you weren't legitimately raped? What about people who want to have a baby but can't-is it because the guy is raping the girl? So many questions about this factually unfounded statement. But ok, ok, he said he meant FORCIBLE rape because you know, sometimes rape isn't forceable.........

But he still believe our lady parts can prevent babies (random conservatives have repeated this claim since the 90's, Mr. Akin is no trailblazer) so ladies if you get raped and pregnant its your fault cause your body is bad or you are lying about rape. And what were you wearing? The rape was probs your fault too.

Icing on the cake -  in this whole statement he mentions the rapist being punished and not punishing the child but he never really mentions the victim beyond her body shuttin that whole baby makin thing down. Essentially, we are our uteri and that is about it.

I think in the context of the uproar over these very offensive comments it is essential to point out a couple of things. VP candidate Paul Ryan has cosigned on personhood bills with Rep. Akin that would outlaw all abortions including in case of rape and incest and to save the life of the mother. Second-Why are Republicans mad? This dude basically was just towing the party line and they are mad because? In case you need more proof, the GOP is adopting the concept that life begins at conception into their party platform.

There is a war on baby makers.
